Netflix is well-known for their groundbreaking true crime documentaries – Making A Murderer (2015) and Amanda Knox (2016) – but some people feel uncomfortable with their latest documentary, titled Casting JonBenet, which has been labeled as “creepy” and “disturbing”.
The official trailer released online features a lineup of young, blonde actresses turning to the camera ready to deliver their best impersonation of the murdered pageant queen. One budding starlet directly asks the camera, “Do you know who killed JonBenet Ramsey?”
The haunting trailer is a reminder of the spotlight 6-year-old JonBenet once had all to herself before her tragic murder at the family’s Boulder, Colorado home on December 26th, 1996 – a case which still to this day has never been solved.
Netflix announced the project and explained, “After years of media speculation and public fascination, audiences are presented with a documentary hybrid examining the macabre legacy of this tiny starlet.

“Over 15 months, the filmmakers traveled to the Ramseys’ Colorado hometown to elicit responses, reflections and even performances from the local community.
“In doing so, Casting JonBenet examines how this crime and its resulting mythologies have shaped the attitudes and behavior of successive generations of parents and children.”
Casting JonBenet will debut on Netflix in April.
